BANA General Meeting 10/14/2020

Boyd Acres NA General meeting 10/14/2020 6PM Zoom

Attending: Sam Davis and Erik Tobiason from Bend Heros, Cindy King, Kathy Roche., Tom Fisher, Annette Christianson, unidentified neighbor1, Kelsey Schwartz, Susannah Abramson?, unidentified neighbor2, Vanessa Sanchez, Joette Storm, hrsecntryl, 15412802500. Marcia Maciac, Ellen.

Introduction: Veterans village, Bend Heros Foundation

Welcome –Cindy King: Chair

Housekeeping –will be muted unless speaking

501 C charity, those who have served our nation. He will present an overview, + CO veterans outreach.

Erik: Bend Heros, help veterans and first responders. Started the non-profit to help in the community.  Homeless problems –solutions –came across these villages.  Also partnered with county and city. It is designed to be transitional. Point count plus indicated the need. Modeled after Clackamas county –with 18 months, 22 vets are now “graduated” have jobs, going to college or other successes.

Located on Public safety campus, Poe Street, Behavioral services is right across the street.

Single family shelters. 17’ rock outcropping. were acquired from Mtn View Htg, Community bldg. 500 sq. ft. Fenced and gated, closed 8-8, on-site management 24/7. Code of conduct, village council.

No drugs, no alcohol, no fires, no pets.

Bus stop nearby.

Neighbor Comments about alley. Will be fenced but fence is not adequate, alley provides fire access. They are already issues with folks released from DSCO jail, the community at the vet village are a different community. Will work with the DCSO to resolve these issues.  The homes are moderate and don’t want to lose value. Wants to get together personally with Erik.

Construction and timing: Application submitted April 29. For 5 shelters. Need to dig sewer. Land is leased from county. Black area is a parking lot, will be gravel unless paving is donated.

Board plus Joette to discuss pumpkin carving contest, Joette has prizes worked out. Kelsey and Joette are running this. Joette will be sending out of google account.  Will put it on Nextdoor app and FB next Monday.

Transit will present next month 18Nov for meeting @6 pm.
