Boyd Acres Neighborhood has several points of historic significance.
Boyd Cabins Historical Site – The Boyd family homestead, now called Pomegranate Home and Garden, located at 120 NE Bend River Mall Dr.
Sixteen years ago we discovered this great little historic farmhouse. It's one of Bend's original homesteads, once sitting on 600 acres of ranch land, and now hidden behind malls and big box retail stores.
McKay Cottage Historical Site - Now called McKay Cottage Restaurant, located at 62910 O.B. Riley Road. McKay Cottage is a casual, elegant neighborhood restaurant nestled in a beautifully restored historic craftsman cottage -- former home of Bend pioneers Clyde and Olive McKay and their son, Senator Gordon McKay. Relocated to O.B. Riley Road across from the Deschutes River and restored to its original quiet grandeur.
Nels and Lillian Andersen House – Now the home of Instant Landscaping located at 63160 Nels Anderson Rd. Over a century ago at the north end of Bend Nels and Lillian Anderson operated a dairy farm on over 300 acres. The Andersons homesteaded the property in 1915 and built their house around 1929. In 2009 the City of Bend designated the Anderson House as a historic and cultural resource.
Pilot Butte Canal - Dug in 1904 to provide irrigation to new farms and ranches, the Pilot Butte Canal continues in use today providing water from the Deschutes River between April and October each year. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) - The railway has freight operations through Bend and its rails cross roads in Boyd Acres Neighborhood at Cooley and Butler Market. The tracks border a few residential areas and the sound of a warning horn can be heard a few times per day.
