June 18 Annual Meeting

Board Elected and Bylaws Amended to Reflect New Boundaries

Important Highlights from our Annual June 2018 Meeting/Picnic

John Skidmore, Assistant City Manager answered many questions we were concerned about and informed us of the following:

·       City Council has recently freed up funds for street maintenance by reducing city reserves. They are looking for creative, legal ways to spend transit room tax that is mainly used for marketing tourism. They feel city safety is a higher priority than marketing. The City lost their lawsuit regarding the use of lodging taxes. See: https://www.bendbulletin.com/localstate/bend/6293576-151/bend-to-appeal-hotel-tax-lawsuit.

·       Roundabout at Purcell and Empire will start in the Fall of 2019 and  include an underpass for Park access. The sidewalk across the North Canal will then be started.

·       Murphy and Empire are the city's solution for East to West transit.

·       Juniper Ridge: 3 lots sold to Bend Mailing Co., CID storm water and waste water systems, Thuren Fabrication and Terrain Control Industries that makes bike suspensions. 700 combined car trips per day are allowed before they look at making traffic improvements.

·       OB Riley: The new school on Cooley is under construction and it will be required to build sidewalks.

·       Stephen Herr of the Community Association Institute offered training on land laws and legal rights to the homeowners of HOA's.

·       Business Outreach Committee : We are in the process of making our local businesses feel welcome in the neighborhood.

·       Social Media Committee: We want to know what is important to YOU! We also want to get information out to all of our neighbors.  Be sure to check in and "Like" us!

·       Land Use Committee: We want you to be aware of the latest news about how our neighborhood is changing.

·       Election results: Chairman, Joette Storm; Vice-Chairman, Cindy King; new board members, Sarah Miller and Greta Turillo; reelected board members, Jeff Silverman, Jim Beauchemin, Matt Bryant, and Larry Kieulff.

·       Stay tuned for information about emergency preparedness for your home and neighbors.
