Neighborhood Meeting with the Board of Boyd Acres Neighborhood Association

North Fire Station Conference Room, 63377 Jamison, 97701

North Fire Station Conference Room, 63377 Jamison, 97701

In attendance: Chair Don Leonard, Secretary Larry Kierulff, Vice Chair Joette Storm, Land Use Chair Jim Beauchemin, David and Ginny Csensics, Steven Bradley, Joshua Romero

Guest Speakers:

Don Leonard called the meeting to order and introduced guest, Joshua Romero, City of Bend Community Relations Manager. New to the position and area, he spoke of his background in San Diego, his activities so far in Bend and responded to questions from the board. He said an IT person has been hired to assist the department and a major update to the city website is due soon.  He will be BANA’s default contact to the city.

The chair introduced Steve Bradley, Les Schwab Headquarters Facility Manager.  Responding to questions from the board, he estimated the occupancy of the 9-year-old building was 350 at the most, many visitors from out of the area and many living in Prineville for which a shuttle is available. He said community outreach was mainly through the stores that number over 420 throughout the west. Several issues of common interest were discussed including the desire for round about art, landscape along Cooley, homeless campsites, and growth of  the Juniper Ridge area. Steve will receive the BANA newsletter and use the company bulletin board when appropriate.

Status Report
Don Leonard reported on the BANA transportation priorities submitted to city council and the City Charter Review Forum he recently attended. He said he would represent BANA on a committee to present the forum findings to city council in January.  Regarding a BANA logo project, Larry Kierulff suggested it be addressed in January.

Committee Report
Jim Beauchemin reported on several land use notices since July.

Rollover Proposal
Larry reported that Orchard District NA is inviting collaboration on a marketing proposal. Joette thought that might work well with her proposal to design and print a Welcome to the Neighborhood brochure and website page for new residents. She showed an example from Grand Rapids and is awaiting some estimates from designers and printers. The board unanimously agreed to pursue to project and will meet 2 pm 11/21/16 at 63214 Brightwater Dr. to discuss final details.

Future Speakers and meeting dates
The next meeting is scheduled December. Don will invite Victor Chudowski or meet with Larry for other possible speakers. Meeting was adjourned at 7 pm.

Respectfully submitted, Larry Kierulff, BANA Secretary
