The City of Bend has requested Neighborhood Associations to provide goals for 2019. The deadline is January 11, thus the board must meet prior to the general membership meeting on Jan. 14th.

ENERGY SUPPLY:
City-led projects (Incentives, policies benefiting LMI residents, investment in renewable energy sources, setting community wide renewable energy goals) & Community-led projects (Outreach and education programs, training programs to build a skilled workforce, financial incentives like grants, investment in community renewable energy sources (i.e. community solar).
ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN BUILDINGS:
City-led projects (same as above) & Community-led projects (new programs and tools like energy databases of EE upgrades in commercial buildings, toolkits for homeowners, low-cost energy audit program, host contests and provide recognition)
WASTE AND MATERIALS:
City-led projects (permitting and financial incentives, implementing green purchasing standards, policies to require improved waste diversion, expand recycling and compost areas in public places) & Community-led projects (outreach and education, training programs to build a skilled workforce in waste reduction, Repair Cafes, GoBox containers, Expanded food hub and CSA programs)
TRANSPORTATION:
City-led projects (supporting electric vehicle transition through planning and infrastructure, ride sharing, shuttles, pricing strategies to discourage driving & Community-led projects (expanded alternative transportation service such as Cascades East Transit, ride sharing companies, outreach and education about alternative transportation benefits)

Joette Storm: 15 panels on a house - costs $16,000, but with federal, state and tax credits, the total cost to homeowner is about $3000 and monthly bill would be approximately $10 per month.

December 19, attended public meeting re: marijuana cultivation and refinement plant facility on High Desert Lane, located next to Cascade Indoor Sports. No retail facility, enclosed indoors. Meets requirements in light industrial area. Concerns were directed at clientele, tenants, developer didn’t want to disclose many details. Concerns on volatile compounds and exposure to byproducts, comments about building appearance
BANA responded with our concerns to code amendments proposed at Dec. 5 meeting re: decreasing lot size for duplexes/triplexes in residential standard areas.

Neighborhood Roundtable - new mission statement
An informal get-together to share ideas; should it continue? New mission statement: The Neighborhood Association Round Table (NART) consisting 13 Neighborhood Associations (NAs) sanctioned by the city of Bend, shall act as a collaborative group to support the needs of all NAs, to create a space for sharing best practices and developing procedures for sustainability and improvement of the NAs.
Each NA will have a representative if the board chooses to participate. The group identified several topics of common interest: fireworks/safety, roundabout art, emergency preparedness, social media. The Roundtable will meet every other month. The next meeting is Saturday, March 9 , 11 a.m. at the East Bend Library
